YO! Sushi

Hello all and welcome back to my blog! Today's blog is a review/general experience of my lunch at the YO! Sushi restaurant in Edinburgh. So my friend and I have both finished our exams and we thought it would be nice to go out just us to celebrate. We thought since it was a big thing to get through our exams, we would treat ourselves to some sushi (that's our excuse).

Neither of us had ever been to YO! Sushi before, and we were pleasantly surpised. We ended up going for lunch because neither of us were free on the same evening, so it was perhaps quite a touristy time. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but the staff were very polite and friendly, and we got a nice table by the window (with AMAZING views of Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street). The service was a bit slow (they were quite busy and a bit short-staffed), but the food definitely made up for it.

If you have never been to YO! Sushi before, basically, there is a conveyor belt which goes all around the restaurant with little cold dishes on it. Each colour represents a different price, and you can take whatever dishes you want (the price is added up at the end). It is a really cool and clever system, which definitely adds to the experience, but we had to order most of our dishes off the menu as the cheap ones were in short supply on the belt (most people take the cheap ones off and by the time they should get to you they are gone).

The sushi was really delicious, however overpriced some of it was ;) I would definitely return to YO! Sushi as it was a pleasant experience, but most likely only on special occasions as most dishes were a little too pricey for my liking. Here are some photos of our food.

p.s. I would 100% recommend the salmon maki (on the blue plate below).

pps. yes that is me trying to bite the sushi (it looked too big to eat in one) and no I cannot use chopsticks :)

Blue plate - salmon maki.

Green plates - avocado maki, cucumuber maki and inari nigiri.

Blue plate - salmon rolls. Green plates - avocado and cucumuber rolls, inari nigiri

Green plate - crispy salmon skin roll

Thank you for reading my blog, I hope you enjoyed it! Please feel free to comment any other sushi restaurants you have been to and would recommend, maybe I can try them out too :)

Have a nice day,

Lucia
